Dr. Jeffery Clay Fletcher

A few months ago I listened to JC along with all his classmates recite the Osteopathic Oath as they were welcomed into the clinical rotation part of Medical School.

I was touched by this statement and had goose bumps as I listened to my husband recite these words:
I do hereby affirm my loyalty to the profession I am about to enter. I will be mindful always of my great responsibility to preserve the health and the life of my patients, to retain their confidence and respect both as a physician and a friend who will guard their secrets with scrupulous honor and fidelity, to perform faithfully my professional duties, to employ only those recognized methods of treatment consistent with good judgment and with my skill and ability, keeping in mind always nature's laws and the body's inherent capacity for recovery.
I will be ever vigilant in aiding in the general welfare of the community , sustaining its laws and institutions, not engaging in those practices which will in any way bring shame or discredit upon myself or my profession. I will give no drugs for deadly purposes to any person, though it may be asked of me.
I will endeavor to work in accord with my colleagues in a spirit of progressive cooperation and never by word or by act cast imputations upon them or their rightful practices.
I will look with respect and esteem upon all those who have taught me my art. To my college I will be loyal and strive always for its best interests and for the interests of the students who will come after me.I will be ever alert to further the application of basic biologic truths to the healing arts and to develop the principles of osteopathy which were first enunciated by Andrew Taylor Still.

JC and I have been talking lately about how we feel that the Lord is calling us to take not only the message of the Cross but also medicine into the world. We both have a strong desire to live abroad and do medical missions. We feel this is how the Lord has called us to be his Ambassador.

JC has a passion for helping others through medicine and we both have a longing to spread the good news. I can’t wait to see where the Lord wants us… I know that he will pave the path… we just have to keep our eyes open and our hearts in diligent prayer that we are able to accept the challenge put in front of us.

Open My by Shawn McDonald says all the words that I can’t…

Would You open up eyes, so I can see
Would You open up my ears, so I can hear
Would You open up my mind, so I can know
Would You open up my heart, so could love You more
I want to serve You, my God
I want to give everything
I want to serve You, my King, yeah
I want to serve You, my Lord
I want to give You everything, yeah
Here I am with my arms open wide
Asking for You to come up, up inside
Won't You make me new, won't You make me true
Jesus, won't You make me like You, oh
Will You touch my eyes so I can see
Will You touch my ears so I can hear
Will You touch my mind so I can know
Will You touch my heart so I can love You more
Won't You open me
Won't You open me, open me
Won't You open me, open me
Won't You open me, open me
Won't You open me, open me

(kind of fitting that its has the Spanish words to this song…)

JC just started his OBGYN rotation on Monday and has loved every minute of it! It makes the long road so much easier when you are walking next to a partner who is in love with what he is doing. It makes the lonely nights worth it when I am able to see his excitement for the career that he has chosen.

Today will be his first day in Labor and Delivery and I know he will have tons of stories to share with me tonight!!! I cant wait!!

I couldn’t resist taking a picture of him this morning… he looked too cute in his scrubs not to take this! He wasnt too happy with a camera in his face at 5:30am this morning - check out his annoyed face!

Dr. Fletcher… you make me so proud!

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:18-20
