The light is getting brighter...

The light at the end of the medical school tunnel is getting brighter and brighter! This past Thursday JC and I went to a ceremony celebrating the start of his clinical rotations. We visited with other couples who understand our situation since they too are going through the same thing... its a nice feeling to be able to honestly say "I know what you mean, I haven't seen my husband in what feels like a month too!"

It was a night of encouragement that there is in fact a light at the end of the tunnel. Past students spoke about their rotation experiences giving the current students many wonderful words of wisdom.

The one that stood out to me and made me realize that JC is in the right field is a statement that his dean said

"A patient doesn't care how much you know until they know how much you care".

I believe this statement describes JC and the care and concern he has for those who are in need.

The theme of the night (aside from the pointers and tips that were given) was SERVICE. Medicine is a vocation of SERVICE. I feel so blessed to be able to walk beside JC and he pursues his career in medical service. I am so proud of him and know that he will make a wonderful Dr. - his caring heart and giving spirit is so evident in all he does, and one day his patients will see this to.

JC was also recognized during this ceremony for completing over 50 hours of service during his second year. There were only 7 other students who were recognized for this... I was pretty proud of him!

On July 7th JC will start his first clinical rotation as a student doctor. For six weeks he will be in Odessa doing his Pediatric rotation. I can't wait to hear all his stories and watch his career unfold. His character and personality will be challenged and strengthened though this.

Although 6 weeks is a long time to be away from him I am so excited for this part of our journey to begin...

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"
